How It Works

Rocks have high compressive strength but low tensile strength — we exploit this weakness

Drill the Hole

Drill a hole into the rock using a conventional rock drill. Hole diameter ranges from 90mm to 220mm depending on the splitter model. Minimum hole depth is 1,000mm.

Insert the Splitter

Place the piston rock splitter into the drilled hole. Connect it to the hydraulic power unit via high-pressure tubing. The splitter is ready for operation.

Hydraulic Splitting

The hydraulic power unit drives the piston to extend outward, generating thousands of tons of splitting force. The rock cracks along its natural grain in approximately 2 minutes, following the predetermined direction.

System Components

Hydraulic Power Unit

Diesel or electric powered. Generates high-pressure hydraulic oil (up to 150 MPa) to drive the splitter. Available in portable or skid-mounted designs.

Piston Splitter

Six sizes available. Inserted into the drilled hole, it extends its piston to generate thousands of tons of lateral splitting force. 1-6 splitters can operate simultaneously.

Hydraulic Tubing

High-pressure and low-pressure hoses connect the power unit to the splitter(s). Durable construction ensures safe operation at extreme pressures.
